Ross MacKay is an award winning writer. His debut novel for middle grade readers, Will and The Whisp, will be released in 2022 by Creative James Media. His debut picture book, Daddy’s Bad Day, will also be released in 2022 by Curly Tale Books . His poem, And We Called Him Noah, won the William Soutar Award 2020.

Ross has also worked as a director, puppeteer and a magician. Sometimes, he is a blend of all three. 

For a decade, Ross was artistic director of the multi-award winning theatre company, Tortoise in a Nutshell which he co-founded in 2010. He directed numerous award-wining productions including the New York Time’s Critic’s Pick, Feral.

Ross is based in the picturesque village of Aberdour, Scotland. He enjoys rambling walks in the woods, kayaking and his hit and miss vegetable garden.
